Tapping the tree

Workers make a shallow cut in the tree's bark. The sap slowly flows out and is collected in a small cup. Important: the tree is not cut down—it will continue to produce latex for many years to come.

The collected liquid is filtered to remove impurities and then diluted with water. This results in clean rubber.

Solidify and cure into solid rubber

Natural acid is added to the mixture, causing the rubber particles to clump together and solidify. This transforms it into solid rubber.
